The Westin San Diego is a great hotel for a downtown San Diego get away. The hotel is clean, neat, and very comfortable. I was visiting San Diego with my two daughters and we had a great room, comfortable beds, and great room service. The hotel is also in a great location which is walking distance to the Gas Lamp area and all the shops and restaurants.
We had a great stay and I will go back to this hotel again!

Two things to note regarding my stay: 1. Check your baths towels before you start using them when you get out of the shower, two of the four towels had long strands of brown hair folded into them - disgusting is right! 2. Beware of having your vehicle valet'd at the hotel ... my vehicle returned with significant front end damage. It might be worthwhile parking on the street.

Westin took over this property about a year ago - building still needs a bit more upgrading but nothing serious and rooms are large, well appointed with great views. (ask for Bay View). We like the downtown location - short walk to bayfront park and restaurants as well as two blocks to trolley and transportation hub - just park the car. Have stayed in San Diego many times, including apartment rental - this was a short visit and we'd pick this Westin again (not the gaslamp one). Try the food in Little Italy and the Gaslamp - both areas are walking distance with lively atmosphere.

This hotel is in downtown San Diego and is the best location to explore San Diego. I have a two year old and a fourteen year old. The youngest was absolutely amazed that he could see from our room all of the ships passing on the San Diego Bay and the red trolley that stops one block away from the hotel, which was our main mode of transportation. We walked to the USS Midway, Seaport Village, the pirate ships and Horton Plaza Mall, which has a great food court. The rooms are so luxurious and I don't think I have had a better night sleep in my entire life. The staff made my boys and I feel like royalty and went over and above to make our experience a complete dream vacation. I was amazed each day we were there at the kindness of the staff. Not only did the staff accomodate us with a crib for the baby, but we also found a care bag of everything you would need to make sure my little guy was safe. The staff provided everything from a night light to safety plugs for the outlets. He even enjoyed a different rubber ducky delivered to our room each night for his bath. I have never been so overwhelmed by so much generousity and overall welcoming that we received throughout our stay. I will forever be a loyal guest and hope to return often.
