We stayed 3 nights at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott. We were part of a wedding group so that is how we selected this hotel...it was chosen for us. Hotel is attached to the airport via Terminal B and makes for a great location if you need to be close to the Airport. There is a Bar/Restaurant and small convenience shop onsite. This hotel is all non-smoking with a designated smoking area outside the main entrance.
Rooms: Nice but a little dated and the walls and doors are quite thin. Very clean and the beds are comfortable. TV is CRT and approximately 25". There is a large dresser, chair w/ ottoman, and a desk. The room is a little on the small side but adequate. Window does not open, would have been nice to get some fresh air through a vent or something. Bathroom has large countertop, and basic fixtures throughout.
Staff: Quite friendly and accommodating. Only issue was restaurant service for breakfast. Had to find a waitress to get your check because they do not come by your table after you get your food. Evening service was much better.
Food: The hotel restaurant is good but you will have to venture out if you want some variety. Nothing else nearby except for a deli in Terminal D. They know this, so prices at the hotel are high for what you get.
Transportation: Hotel is adjacent to several rental car agencies. Also, and what proved to be very convenient for us, is the Regional Rail (RR1) train you can catch from Terminal B. $7 and it's a straight shot to down town. You catch it at :12 and :42 after the hour. A little confusing at first since there aren't instructions around, but you just get on and the conductor comes by and collects the fare. If you're not sure where you're heading to, they'll help you out. If you prefer a cab, it's $26.50 between downtown and the airport (goes up to $28.50 06/08). We were able to get to all the touristy stuff fairly easily once we were downtown, by either just walking around or taking a short cab ride.
Misc: Parking is $17 per night. Movies are $15+ tax. Access parking garage from 3rd floor, Terminal B from 2nd floor. There is a kiosk near the front desk for online airline check in. Hotel bar is open until 1 am. Las Vegas Lounge at 7th and Chestnut downtown was a good place to stop in for a beer. Go down to South Street and check out the area. If you go to the Philadelphia Art Museum, there are cabs lined up the west side if you need to catch one. We weren't sure how we were going to get a ride back downtown once we were let out there. Also expect a decent sized line for admittance - might be able to buy tickets online in advance. Driving around Philly is a pain in the [-].
