“Beautiful, modern hotel with a great location”

Sofitel Philadelphia

We loved the Sofitel. We had a Jr. Suite, with nice living area, two flat screen HD televisions, huge bathroom with seperate shower/tub, nice dressing area and vanity. The employees of the hotel were all very nice and willing to help in any way.

The bed is super comfortable. You have a down comforter and a feather bed, it's like being wrapped up in softness.

The room was perfectly clean. The sheets and towels were spotless, and believe me I inspect them considering all the gross news stories these days.

The only kind of weird thing is the doors in the suite are made to look like Japanese doors that have rice paper insets. Very pretty, but when you turn on the bathroom light during the night it shines into the bedroom.

The location is excellent. There is a Rite Aid just across the street. Restaurants of any kind you can imagine are within walking distance. Try the Reuben at Little Pete's Diner, it's awesome. Lots of pubs nearby too, we liked the Black Sheep and Oscar's Tavern.

When they say Philly is a "walkable city" this is really an understatement. We walked from 3rd and Market, to the hotel on 17th. It was really neat to be able to see the city this way.

“Great Stay”

Sofitel Philadelphia

Stayed 3 nights over the 4th of July weekend. Room, bed, towels and extra's great! Advise that when booking a room ask not to be located near the maid's closet, in the morning and during turndown service they were very loud (talking and letting the door close on it's own). Listening to a door slam 20 times in a half in hour is not my idea of relaxing. Restraunt was ok, I would spend the money on the many other great places to eat. But, for a comfy well maintained room and great service the stay was worth the price.

“Perfect in every way”

Sofitel Philadelphia

Jul 1, 2008

Due to a bit of fun with my flights, I ended up at the hotel a night early. The only room they had available was a larger one than I had reserved, but having paid the standard rate for it, they upgraded me to the same room for the rest of my stay - very classy.

The staff was incredibly helpful, the room was beautiful, the bed - oh my goodness, the bed - amazing. Quiet, comfortable, luxurious and central. Do not hesitate to book here, you will not regret it.

“Sofitel - Not too much too tell”

Sofitel Philadelphia

Jun 28, 2008

We stayed at the Sofitel to spend a weekend in Philly and got a parking plus accomadations package from a Philly tourist site.

Pros:
- location, location, location: walking distance to Rittenhouse Square and Walnut street shopping and restaurants

- valet service: quick and courteous even with the extremely limited drop off space in front of the hotel

- feather bed and linens: comfy, white and crisp; looked clean to me

- breakfast: good service and food (except Sunday buffet a bit pricey and too heavy on seafood for me)

- need hotel key to access elevator to go to rooms: made us feel a little safer in the city with this

- roomy bath: modern separate shower and tub

- flat screen TV

Cons:
- kinda cramped: the hotel itself looks kinda cramped between buildings and the front of the hotel is very tight for space and in the evening there is a lot of people hanging out in front and it is loud

- room decor and size: unless you have a corner room or a room with multiple beds the room is small and the decor is a modern so-so (nothing to write home about)

- wish the front desk staff were friendlier

- advertised the room as "superior king" - to me that means a king bed but we were given a queen bed

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — modern big bathroom, valet and breakfast
    • Disliked — promor misrepresentation of room size, package detals

“A Wonderful Visit”

Sofitel Philadelphia

Jun 23, 2008

The visit was a gift for my 14yr old cousin and our stay was wonderful. Our room was not quite ready upon arrival - but the staff immediately offered us complimentary drinks in the bar, which was very much appreciated. The hotel was perfectly situated for our tourist needs - close to train station, undergound blue line, Phlash trolley etc. I am very particular on clean rooms / bathrooms and this hotel received the highest marks. Bed linens and towels were great, enough hangers etc. We only had breakfast in the hotel on two occassions and found our meals to be fine with very courteous staff. However I must admit that I tend to go with the flow - and usually don't feel the need to be the pushy customer. Being an older woman visiting with a young adult - we were treated very kindly and felt very safe in the area.
