We loved the Sofitel. We had a Jr. Suite, with nice living area, two flat screen HD televisions, huge bathroom with seperate shower/tub, nice dressing area and vanity. The employees of the hotel were all very nice and willing to help in any way.
The bed is super comfortable. You have a down comforter and a feather bed, it's like being wrapped up in softness.
The room was perfectly clean. The sheets and towels were spotless, and believe me I inspect them considering all the gross news stories these days.
The only kind of weird thing is the doors in the suite are made to look like Japanese doors that have rice paper insets. Very pretty, but when you turn on the bathroom light during the night it shines into the bedroom.
The location is excellent. There is a Rite Aid just across the street. Restaurants of any kind you can imagine are within walking distance. Try the Reuben at Little Pete's Diner, it's awesome. Lots of pubs nearby too, we liked the Black Sheep and Oscar's Tavern.
When they say Philly is a "walkable city" this is really an understatement. We walked from 3rd and Market, to the hotel on 17th. It was really neat to be able to see the city this way.
