I have now returned to this hotel twice for a week each time and LOVED it! For the price, you get a great deal of value. The rooms are pristine, compact and offer everything that you need for a comfy stay. The courtyards and pool were great! the Staff are very friendly, talkative and open to any and all questions, As someone who had to park a large van, their secure exterior lot was so amazing. If you are looking to be able to walk out of your hotel door and be in the heart of New Orleans, you are going to pay twice as much than the Maison St. Charles. If you want easy access to local transportation and the Garden District, great local eateries (Slice is a slice of heaven!) and want to save your travel money to eat and shop-- stay here!

I booked this hotel based on the positive recommendations, and while it didn't quite meet my expectations it is OK when you know what you're dealing with.

The location is reasonably convenient with a tram stop right in front of the hotel, but the neighborhood itself didn't make a particularly safe impression. Front desk staff wasn't overly helpful; we had to haggle for fifteen minutes to get decent rooms after they initially wanted to dump us in dirty ones right next to the extremely noisy pool. Our final rooms were decent, but note that you're dealing here with what is essentially a motel one notch up from Motel 6 - so stained carpets and bed spreads should be expected.

In terms of value for money (we paid about $80) I don't complain - but it certainly isn't the fairytale inn some other reviewers have painted it as.

We booked this hotel originally not knowing what it was; we booked the "surprise" package. We were expecting something decent, but this hotel is amazing. I loved everything about it, from the location to the friendly staff. I would love to stay here again!

The Maison St. Charles has its upside - it is convenient, but at #24 this hotel is ranked too high on TripAdvisor. At the price (about $90) you're getting what you pay for . The hotel is located across from the streetcar stop and Emeril's Delmonico restaurant, but guests should be aware of surroundings in the general neighborhood. The hotel does have visible security and secure parking lots. We had several problems with our room including no towels and missing light bulbs and malfunctioning lamps, old and stained linen. The bathroom smelled of mildew. Front desk staff were flip and less than helpful, but the manager was responsive to our complaints. He said that a major renovation is planned, and the hotel may be worth a second look after it's done.

Be sure to visit the Audubon Zoo and ride the streetcar from start to finish. Watch the Mississippi roll by behind the Cafe DuMonde. Eat at Mothers, the Palace Cafe and find a little neighborhood place like Liuzza's. Walk the uptown streets and shop on Magazine street. Browse the antique stores on Royal Steet for the best of the city.
