The Fairmont Olympic is a beautiful historic building with a central location in downtown Seattle. My daughter and I arrived just after noon for our two night stay, and our room was ready. Although it was on the small side, it was very comfortable with two (long) twin beds, a chair/ottoman, TV armoire (with minibar), desk/chair, and fairly large closet with safe. The bathroom looked recently renovated and sparkled, it was so clean. Toiletries, robes and slippers were provided.
The hotel has excellent service. Everyone greeted us by name after the first introduction, and the concierge staff was extremely helpful. The phone calls I made were answered on the first ring, and with the greeting "Good day/evening, Mrs. xxx, how may I assist you?"
One of the hotel amenities is complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning, but I prefer having it in my room while getting ready. Since no coffeemakers were available, room service delivered a lovely coffee tray free of charge both mornings.
The only negative is that we were only on the third floor and the street noise was pretty bad. Since I was so tired the first night, I didn’t really notice it that much until around 6am when I was awakened by garbage trucks (or something very noisy) and couldn’t get back to sleep. I would have requested a room change, but needed to get up at 6am the next day anyway, so figured it would be ok. Unfortunately that night something woke me up around 2am (sirens?) and I couldn’t get back to sleep at all. I mentioned this to the doorman as we left, and he said they would be addressing the noise issue with an upcoming renovation.
I booked the room via our corporate travel, so got it for a really good price -- the rack rate is a bit over my normal budget! I would not hesitate to stay there again but would make sure to get a higher floor and/or interior facing room.
