I used to go to the Metropolitan Grill with my wife when we were first married 20+ years ago. It was always a big-splurge and at that time one of the few retro-steakhouses in Seattle. The steaks, service, ambience were always top notch. I eat in some of the best restaurants in NYC, Vancouver, LA etc so I have a fairly good idea of quality. I only mention that so you know this was not a once-in-a-lifetime-and-I'm-going-to-love-it-dagnabbit review.
recently I decided to take my 10 year old son there for a "boys night out" and I was really dissappointed. For one thing... WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU WEARING SEATTLE?? I know this isn't the restaurant's fault, but, man the patrons looked like a hodgepodge of sort-of-stockbrokers to mountaineers-who-shop-at-Walmart. OUCH.
Sorry Seattle.
But back to the food. Big dissappointment. Not only was my NY steak luke-warm, it was had a tough thread through the whole thing.
To their credit, they took it off the bill, but steaks are one of those things that just have to be right every single time. Sending it back takes too long and the experience is ruined. I think the unforgiveable part was when it came out not sizzling initially.
To the previous poster - always complain. I didn't drop anywhere near $650, but I still complained.
