“Always a Convenient Delight”

The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta

Jul 22, 2008

The Ritz is always charming. The location offers a lot less traffic then the one in Buckhead. I've stayed at this hotel several times and the staff has always been very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is very clean and the room are great. Parking is very expensive, but there is lot across the street that is only $5 compared to $27 overnight at the Ritz (and that the self parking rate). This hotel has a very nice restaurant and is conveniently close to several in the area. Hotel is also very easy to get in and out without the hassel of other guest crowding the lobby, like the one in Buckhead. I highly recommend this hotel for those who like to travel in style and private.

“Superior service but ......”

We wanted a place to stay close to the Georgia Aquarium and it was within walking distance. The staff were very attentive from the parking attendants to the reception and concierge desk. Upon arrival we went to check out the fitness room and pool and they were both closed for renovations. There was no notice of that when we made our reservations. You could actually get off the elevator on Level 4 and immediately step into the construction zone. Room was very nice but the room was freezing. We called maintenance and the only thing they could offer us was a heater for our room. There was no way of adjusting the temperature of the AC. We just turned it off which made the room stuffy but more tolerable than the cold. Another odd thing was that turn-service came at 9:30 pm which was too late. The hotel was far from full so that was not the reason. We were there for only one night so these problems did not matter too much to us but we would have definitely been more upset had we stayed longer.

“Great Stay at the Ritz Carlton Downtown”

The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta

My mom and I met up in Atlanta for a good friend's baby shower. My mom arrived a couple days before me and spent a total of 5 nights at the hotel. I stayed a total of 3 nights.

We had a renovated room on the 23rd floor facing Underground Atlanta. The room and bathroom were both immaculate and our room was furnished with modern, tasteful furniture as well as the RC robe, flat screen TV and an MP3 player.

Note - extra charge of $9.99 per day for Internet access as well as a hefty fee for parking.

The hotel staff was awesome and treated us like royalty. I have nothing but praise for the front desk staff, club floor staff, concierge, housekeeping and the valets. In particular, Melba was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. She made my mom feel like an old friend and spent time talking with her and guiding her to the Atlanta hot spots. My mom really appreciated this because she was in a strange town on her own.

In all, we loved Atlanta and loved the Ritz Carlton. I most definitely recommend tthis hotel to everyone and can't imagine staying anywhere else on future trips to Atlanta!

“Not the best Ritz, but good!”

The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta

I have to be careful to not confuse the experience with the hotel with the overall visit. The hotel itself is a bit worn but the service is the usual impeccable Ritz quality. I stayed on the top floor with a great view of downtown Atlanta. Housekeeping was invisible but perfect. Had problems with key card but the front desk promptly reissued. As to the experience outside the hotel: boy, has Underground Atlanta deteriorated to the point of scary! Most of the restaurants are gone with empty spaces left. Most of the goods being sold are from "flea marketish" carts. I guess the "place to be" has moved north to Atlantic Station. We went to Fire Brazil restaurant across the street: not recommended. Probably the worst churasco (sp?) I've ever had. My wife had to run out and get a prescription at the nearby Publix. Armed guards and chased by a street person in a wheelchair as she drove off. Anyways, back to the hotel. Great if you want to stay in downtown Atlanta, close to the Aquarium, Turner Field, the Dome, the World Congress Center, and other sites. However, I recommend staying at the Ritz in Buckhead (10 miles away) and commuting to whatever event or site needed downtown. (Very little shopping downtown, much better in Buckhead.) I live in the north Atlanta suburbs and I'm shocked on how badly downtown Atlanta has deteriorated. I stayed at the Ritz downtown because I was at a conference at the hotel. (Better than commuting 40 miles to the hotel from my home.)
