“Nice place to stay”

The Drury inn and Suites Riverwalk is a very nice place to stay.
1. Great staff.
2. Nice Location.
3. Decent pool.
4. Rooms are sufficent.

The Riverwalk is nice but we had enough of it after about 2 days.
The restaurants on the riverwalk are expensive and the food is just not very good. Some of the worst mexican food I have ever had. If you want good food drive a little and eat outside the Riverwalk area. Alamo was interesting, Ripley's stuff was expensive and not worth it. Schlitterbaugh water park was fun for the day. Seaworld was hot, crowded and expensive. Overall San antonio is fun and the people are very nice, but six days there was too long and I would stay outside the Riverwalk area if I were to go back. We would stay in hill county.

“Great value”

This place is a great location. It's on Riverwalk, just north of the Hard Rock cafe but in the quieter section. It's also on Market Street which makes it an easy walk to Market Square. Since there is no restaurant, they provide a buffett breakfast and drinks in the afternoon. We'd get 2 or 3 glasses of wine each afternoon and put them in our fridge for late at night. Also, for only about $30 per night we were able to upgrade to a 2-room suite which was roomy and worth it. I'd stay here again.

We have stayed in San Antonio before at another hotel, but this one was much more reasonably priced with more extras. Had a small problem with our air conditioner when we first checked in and they switched our rooms, no questions asked. Very clean and wonderfully located on the Riverwalk. The free breakfast, calls, snacks, and locality definitely made our vacation much more enjoyable.

“Great -middle of the road place....Super pool deck.”

We booked the King Suite water view side room after reading positive reviews on this website. The overall experience was good. The hotel is in a nice quiet part of the Riverwalk- a big plus. It is easy to get to everything but you are not fighting to use the narrow streets with the zillions of other tourists like you have down at the end of the Riverwalk where the Hilton and Hyatt are. That part of the walk is a zoo.

The hotel lobby was still under construction even though the desk clerk had told us that it was done. The four days we stayed there, it was all covered up but we never saw anyone working on it. That part was a mystery to me. This did not pose any real inconvenience as there was no noise, but the lobby didn't look pretty all covered up.

The room was large with high ceilings, kind of Victorian. There was a refrigerator and a nice clean bathroom. The rooftop pool deck was gorgeous and especially pretty at night.

The complimentary breakfast and coctails were served in the basement- in one of the meeting rooms. That set up was okay, but lacked the ambiance of the hotel lobby where they normally have the buffet set up. The staff was courteous, there is no door man or concierge, but the desk clerks will point you in the direction of local attractions.

The reason for staying here is the overall value- much cheaper than other hotels and yet it is a pretty building. The restaurant workers were exceptionally pleasant and hardworking.

When you visit the Riverwalk be sure to eat at Nicolino's- great little Italian place on the busy end of the Riverwalk. Avoid the Longhorn which adjoins it- the food, ambiance and service were terrible there.

The Drury was a very pleasant experience, we would stay there again- absolutely!

“Beware of reservations”

Drury Inn and Suites Riverwalk

Jun 18, 2008

We made reservations 2 months in advance and they got it wrong. Tried to correct them and they still got it wrong. Spoke at length to front desk manager, who guarenteed us our room, they still got it wrong. We wanted a river view with a balcony, which we eventually got, short of causing a scene. But the balcony rooms are on the 7th floor,so the only way to see the river is to stand up and and look "overboard". There is really no view.
Free drinks in the lobby and breakfast were good.
Rooms were OK.
Rooftop pool was not relaxing as all you could hear were jackhammers from the construction next door.
Location was good.
However, the aggravation of trying to get reservations the way we booked them was terrible and because of this we will never stay at a Drury again
