There are a number of negative reviews for the size of the rooms, the traffic noise and parking issues . . . all of which my wife and I believe are incredibly petty!
If you are looking to host an event in your room then don't look elsewhere . . . if you are looking for a room with all the appropriate charm of an older building with all the necessities of modern living then this is the place for you! From the hardwood floors to the oversized windows, the Riverwalk exemplified charm. The guest robes and HUGE shower made comfort an easy commodity to come by . . .
If a truck rolling by a 6:30 AM disturbs your sleep so much that you feel the need to rave all afternoon to anyone who will listen . . . don't try to sleep here! However, we have traveled all over the world and if someone thinks a truck is loud trying a bunch of drunken Scotts banging a drum and singing at the top of their lungs every day at 2:30 AM!! This hotel is centrally located and you will hear traffic! I sleep extremely lightly, however, and still had no issues going back to sleep without using any of the noise cancellation devices provided by the hotel.
If you need valet parking and don't think you can manage the one block walk from the city garage (which is a steal at $6 a day!) then pull up to another hotel . . . in a different city! What are doing coming to San Antonio home of the famous Riverwalk??? Did you think you'd take a taxi to all the various shops and restaurants??? Get real and don't take 5 pieces of luggage. We bought all kinds of items at the Mercado. On our last day it took me three trips to the car but I didn't get any blisters . . .
Sorry for the tirade but we've been to San Antonio numerous times and always stayed at larger hotels and none of them met our expectations except for being non-descript and rather typical.
The Vista is a unique gem which caters to people who aren't looking for a cookie cutter hotel!
