“Great value at the Drury Plaza”

We stayed for 5 days at the Drury Plaza last week and had a great time. We were celebrating our 1st anniversary and really enjoyed San Antonio.

We arrived on a Sat. afternoon and cab to hotel was about $25 with tip. The only negative for the entire stay was the front desk. The lady that checked us in was not pleasant. She had a bad attitude and was not very helpful in our short encounter with her. I was surprised because so many reviews had mentioned how nice the staff was. Fortunately, this was the exception to what was otherwise friendly and helpful employees.

We had a non-smoking king bed jacuzzi room on the 14th floor. The view wasn't the greatest, but that was irrelevant to us. The room a little smaller than I expected, although there was a desk and a big chair. The tv was in front of the bed sitting on where the mini fridge and microwave were housed. There was a ceiling fan and the bathroom had a 2 person jacuzzi tub which my husband made a lot of use out of most nights.

Each morning we had free breakfast buffet which consisted of pancakes, eggs, sausage, cereals, biscuits, etc. This is located on the 2nd floor above the lobby. Weekdays it runs 6-9:30 and 7-10 on weekends. There is also free popcorn and soda here from 3 - 10 and a happy hour from 5:30-7 each night that had nachos, pretzels, cheddar goldfish, and some trail mix. You are allowed 3 free drinks each during this time. For people, especially families, looking to save money the Drury would be an excellent choice.

There are 6 free internet computers and a couple of printers in a little room on the lobby floor. This is open 24 hrs. They just ask that you be considerate of others if there is anyone waiting.

There is a small exercise room on the 23rd floor. Not a lot there, but good enough for anyone needing to get some cardio in. I believe there was a bike, elliptical, and a treadmill or 2.

The outdoor pool and hot tub was a nice convenience, although they should keep it open past 10. The views are good from up there.

There is no restaurant currently, but was totally insignificant with so many right out the lower level door on the riverwalk.

In summary, we found the Drury Plaza to be a very good deal and would definately recommend it for anyone wanting good value on the riverwalk! We will be back!

“Great stay at a Great Hotel !”

We stayed for just 1 night on the 27th of June. Seaworld was on our agenda but arrived early to gather in some Riverwalk time. This Hotel is SWEET, with plenty of extras! We paid $119 for a family of 3 and King size room. Room was big enough to have a recliner, office space and a fridge/microwave. A little crowded but still cozy. Free Breakfast buffet is included in your price as well as 3 "drink "vouchers per adult for your enjoyment. The drinks are served nightly between 5:30 pm and 7pm and usually served with free snacks like popcorn, nachos, pretzels etc. Breakfast consists of pancakes, eggs, fruit, cereal, susage, biscuits, bagels, coffee, juice and so on. Every room has a LCD flat screen TV and the view from our room was magnificent. This Hotel is on the Riverwalk and on the quiet side. You can literally walk 4 blocks to the Alamo/Rivercenter mall. Take a 4 block walk in the other direction and you will arrive at the always popular Market Square. The Staff at Drury Plaza was friendly and courteous, from the Hotel manager to the valet guys. Book this hotel directly from their website to get the best price. When we return to San Antonio later this Summer we are definitley staying here again!

This hotel is the old Alamo Bank. Very charming. Had a suite which was very nice size and only paid 139 per night. (parking was 18 per day extrta). Our room was great, two 32' flat screen T.V.'s and an apartment size fridge.
My only gripe is that for a downtown hotel this nice, it should have a resturant and a bar on site.

“Nice Play-Would Stay Again”

Drury Plaza Hotel Riverwalk

Jun 26, 2008

I stayed here during a business trip. This was a wonderful hotel. They provide: Continental Breakfast (There was no belgian waffles) and Happy Hour -3 drinks "FREE" per day (There was a specific drink list) with Nachos/Pretzels/Chips. The Cust. Ser. Reps were always friendly and the hotel seem to be kept pretty neat. The beds are nice. The only thing I noticed was the cleaning crew "Never" put the iron & board back up once it's taken out and set up. You can access the Riverwalk from the lower portion of the hotel. The Pool is located (2 levels) above the roof. Yes, you read correctly. You go onto the roof, then have to walk up a set of stairs to access the jacuzzi and then another set of stairs to access the pool. The roof top pool is not a place for kids to be left alone. A parent should always be there for safety reasons. If you stay at the hotel, you will see exactly what I mean. Enjoy your stay. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if the situation presented itself.

“Drury Plaza - Best Hotel on the Riverwalk”

Drury Plaza Hotel Riverwalk

5 of 5 stars
Rochester, NY

The Drury Plaza Riverwalk is a beautiful, clean, and spacious hotel. Everything about this hotel was amazing. We stayed here for 4 days in April and our stay was wonderful. The Alamo Bank Building was restored and converted into The Drury Plaza Hotel creating great ambience, grand ceilings and unique rooms. Because the hotel was a bank, there are ornate decorations on the ceiling, a beautiful stained glass window in the lobby, and amazing historic significance. We stayed in an oversized Queen room which had a very spacious bedroom and living room area. The beds were extremely comfortable, each room had a great plasma TV and you had great views of the city from the large windows.

The pool area is located on the 26th floor with an amazing panoramic view of the city. There is a large pool and two hot tubs with one hot tub overlooking the western skyline. Great place to watch the sunset! There is also a separate patio area with several tables where you can sit and enjoy the great views.

The location of the hotel is great. All you need to do is walk out the back door and you're on the Riverwalk. A quick walk to the right and you're at the heart of all the restaurants and bars. What a great surprise! Plus, the hotel is a quick walk to the Alamo and Hemisphere Park.

Also, the free ammenities that come with your stay are definitely great perks. The happy hour which included 3 free drinks and light snacks and the free soda and popcorn every afternoon and evening were nice bonuses. It was great to be able to stop in and get a soda before and after walking around the city.

I would definitely stay here again and at other Drury hotels. After looking at the other hotels on the Riverwalk, the Drury Plaza is the best hotel for the price! Amazing!
