The location couldn't be better. If you walk out the back door of the hotel you are on the Riverwalk, the rooms in the back of the hotel have balconies that overlook the Riverwalk (the rooms in the front have balconies overlooking the convention center area). The hotel is one block from the convention center, and about 3 blocks from the Alamo. There are tons of restaurant options within walking distance, including many outdoor seating options along the Riverwalk. I don't recommend the hotel restaurants as the food at the Ibiza is fair, and I got tired of waiting at Durty Nelly's while several waitstaff stood around chatting so I left (they saw me but didn't offer to serve me).The front desk staff and concierge were very friendly and professional. The housekeeping staff was good, but I would have preferred they put a bit more time into cleaning the bathroom floor (I'm really picky about this area). The desk chair didn't raise up (or at least I couldn't get it to do so), which was irritating when trying to work at the desk on my laptop. Otherwise the room was great - very large, wih a frig and microwave, and bottled water was left daily (at no charge). I stayed on the HHonors floor (17th), so that might make a difference. If you are flying in and not renting a car, you can take an airport shuttle, but if you want to get to your downtown hotel quickly - although it is very reasonable, I don't recommend you take the shuttle. I had to wait a half hour to get on it, and then rode around for another 30 minutes or so before I was dropped off at my hotel, and the airport is only 11 miles away. On the return, I called ahead and made my reservation for pickup (within 24 hours as they recommend), but they must have lost it or something because they didn't show up and I had to call and ask them where they were (fortunately a shuttle was close and came to get me right away).
