The hotel is big. There are a number of different hotel blocks, shops, swimming pools, restaurants and bars. If you like spectacular sea views of Waikiki, then you need to stay in Rainbow Tower, preferably on the upper floors e.g. 28 to 31, and sea facing so room numbers with 00's e.g. 001
Pro's: The hotel has everything. Shops, pools, entertainment especially on friday night with fireworks, restaurants and is located at the beginning of Waikiki beach. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Con's: The restaurants are expensive. Continental breakfast is $20 and $26 if you want a hot one. Drinks are expensive with a beer costing $7.59 a bottle for Stella Artois. Want to rent a beach umbrella? That's $31 a day. Internet access? How about $12 per day or $18 if you need VPN. I tried looking for free sites and it was difficult. Parking is $20 per day.
Tips: Use the ABC stores which are located in the village and all over Waikiki. Eat out. There are lots of good, cheaper restaurants than what's available at the hotel. I recommend Top of Waikiki, which I thought was going to be expensive but turned out ok. It's a rotating restaurant. The Cheesecake factory is also reasonable but be prepared to wait 50 mins for a table.
