“Great Price.”

ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

My husband and I stayed at the Beach Hotel June 20, 2008 to June 28, 2008.We had a king ocean view room. Loved the price and the location was great. Rooms were clean and so was the hotel. The first night we got there we stopped at tiki's we were just so tired and wanted something to eat. It was ok. It was our anniversary on the 26th so we had a small bottle of champagne in our room that was nice. We knew that the parking was 20.00 a night from reading reviews so we planned on parking the first night (again so tired) and then parking at the Wakiki banyan @ $60.00 for the week. No one even mentioned the price of the parking to us. It's a good thing we knew and didn't park the entire week. Wakiki Banyan is only a block away worth the walk to save lots of money! The elevators here were not fun. You come back from the beach you have to fumble for your room key to get the elevator to go anywhere and then you put it in 500 times and the key doesn't even work. Then you press down and you go up to pick more people up before going back down. I hear they are renovating their elevators. I hope so.

My biggest complaint is the valet. Like I said we used the Valet the first night and then went down to the Wakiki Banyan. When we went to Checkout they had charged us for 4 days of parking. NO WAY. So We told the desk this and they made us go down to the Valet manager. So down I went. He told me he had me down for four days. You have to sign everytime you pick up the car. I asked him to see my signature for the 3 extra days I picked up the car. Once I said this he said I will call and have them take it off. He called and the front desk never picked up the phone, so I had to go back down to him and stand there while he called. They did take it off. While I was standing there one of the Valet's was talking to another guest and passed a not so nice comment about the gay pride parade that had happened earlier. Having a gay family member I really didn't enjoy the comment!

All in all I would stay here again the price and location was right!

Thank you for choosing to celebrate your anniversary with us at the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel. We realize that you have many hotel options available to you and we are pleased to have had the opportunity to serve you.

We were very disappointed to note that the service you received from our Bell/Valet Department failed to meet your expectations. Rest assured that the manager of that department has read this review.

On a positive note we are very pleased to note that you enjoyed your Ocean View room and that you were able to enjoy all that our convenient location has to offer.

Should your future travels bring you to Waikiki again, we would welcome another opportunity to serve you. Until then….Aloha!!!

“great hotel”

ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

Jul 5, 2008

we came to hawaii for our honeymoon in april/may this year, and i have to say it was fantastic, the location for us was perfect, your at the quieter end of the waikiki strip (for nightime) and you could throw a stone and hit the sea from this hotel! the onsite facilities are great! the pool is a decent size especially when you consider the fact that you have the pacific ocean right at the tip of your toes!! onsite there is a wolgang pucks (where i enjoyed my first quesadilla!) a subway, coldstore creamery (if you have never been before they do the most amazing icecream and will make you what ever combination you want!) there is also a few other stores. The hotel restaurant - tikkis is good too, the bar had just been revamped whilst we were there, they have live music every night and is quite good! the food at tikkis is good, but i did find a lot of places served similar things, but the one thing i loved at tikkis was the blue crab and angel hair noodle pasta, i have never eaten crab before and this was so amazingly good i highly recommend it! Anyway the main hotel! the rooms were very nice, we stayed in an ocean view room on the 17th floor, the view was spectacular from the lanai, you could see right the way along the coast, straight down onto waikiki beach, and straight out onto the pacific! the room was very comfortable, we were there for 2 weeks, it was cleaned everyday to a high standard the bathroom was compact but was good for us, there was also a fridge in the room which was great as you could pop to one of the many abc stores and stock up on water, beers etc, the free breakfast on the beach was very good, you get a cooler bag in your room and that is yours to do with as you wish, you go down in a morning and the selection is good, there is cereals, yoghurts, sweet rolls, muffins, mini bagels, jams, fresh fruit, a selection of japanese/chinese breakfast items, freshly brewed kona coffee which is ace! fresh milk and fresh fruit juices as i say you can then go where you want with it, to the beach, by the pool or back to your room, thats what we did, we ate on the lanai and watched the beach activity start to get livelier! you get free towels too that you can use by the pool or take to the beach. there is internet access as well, you can feed money into a slot or swipe a card and your online, and if you dont use all your cash at once you can set up a password and login later so you dont lose anything. there is also 3 activity kiosks where you can book a wide variety of activities during your stay! they are really helpful especially if have never been to the islands before! The hotel location is really good as i said, you are a stones throw from the beach but the hotel is on the trolleybus route, you can buy one day tickets or go to the depot and get up to 4 day cards and you can go to a wide range of places we like the red line (historical tour) which went right into honolulu and to the palace, and the blue line (sightseeing) which goes into diamond head crater and takes you to some of the most beautiful spots i have ever seen! and you can get on and off whenever you want! the hotel is also next to the honolulu zoo which is really cool! and approx 5 mins walk from the waikiki sealife centre (aquamarine centre). we had an amazing honeymoon here and were so happy with everything that we will be returning to this hotel! even if it does take us 17 hours flying to get there - believe me it is worth it!

    • Liked — the location, the views, the beds (very comfy and huge!)
    • Disliked — the lifts were a pain but only because guests would break them by putting their credit cards into the slots and not their room keys like they were supposed to! yes the lifts do work if you use them properly!

“Fantastic location”

ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

5 of 5 stars

Jul 4, 2008

I booked an ocean view room, which included breakfast- great value for the price. The location is amazing- right opposite the best part of the beach, with a swimming lagoon area. I had fantastic views right over Waikiki.
The Hotel is well serviced by shuttles, buses etc to take you to other places in Honolulu, and has a number of reasonably priced dining options e.g. Wolfgang Puck, a gourmet pizza for $10.
The room was clean and comfortable, if not luxurious. The bed was one of the best I have slept in.
In terms of value for money and location, this would be hard to beat.

“Great location, Great Views”

ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel

Where to start?
When we arrived we knew that the room would most likely not be ready for us because we flew in that morning. However, we checked our bags and went upstairs to 'Pre Check-In'. This was great for us as it gave us a chance to tell them that we were Honeymooners, which got us a free upgrade and bottle of sparkling wine in our room (which didn't taste the best). As we had an hour or two to kill we decided to go to the Honolulu Zoo which was just a short walk around the corner. When we returned to the Hotel to collect our room keys the staff were great. We went to our room (room 1702) and as we walked to the door we see this amazing view of Diamond Head (Extinct Volcano), which you can walk up and have an awesome view of all of Waikiki. Then we walked into our room and were pleased as the pictures of the room on the website were just like the room itself. The rooms aren't exactly the biggest, but it was big enough for the two of us. We ended up with an Ocean View Room, which was fantastic.
There is alot to do on Oahu including The Polynesian Cultural Center which is a 'not for profit' attraction that shows the differences in Polynesian Cultures. It is run mostly by University students trying to put themseleves through school. Other things to do include - Climbing Diamond Head (which i previously mentioned), The Grand Circle Tour (if you decide to do this, stick to theTour desks recommendations, Pearl Harbour is another big attraction (if you go on a tour, you don't get much time there) We went to Pearl Harbour by Shuttle which cost us $9 each return with a coupon. The line up for the Arizona Memorial is usually very long so get there early to avoid waiting around. You cannot take any type of BAG to the Arizona Memorial, USS Missouri, USS Bowfin or the Aviation Mueseum, They are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN and the will be taken off you if you don't choose to put them in a locker for the day. Also for you Aussies or just people who like to party we went on a pub crawl, we met a guy on the main stretch of Waikiki that looked a bit suss, his name was William, he is African American and the name of the pub crawl is the Endless Summer Pub Crawl we decided to go on the pub crawl, it cost $50 ($30 deposit & $20 on the night) which covered your entry to 5 clubs and a complimentary drink at each... Don't hold your breath for the free dinner it wasn't that great, my recommendation is to eat before you get there... It was good fun.
Another thing which My wife and I did was got to a little store called Hilo Hatties, There is a FREE trolley which picks you up outside the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel every 30 minutes, it also does a couple of courtesy drop offs at the Boat Marina and also the Ala Moana Center which is a good place to shop.
Now, back to the Hotel. There are plenty of restaurants downstairs and around the hotel (check the coupon book they give you at check-in and the coupon books on the streets for good deals). The Breakfast on the Beach (BOB) is a good idea, however some days the food didn't appeal to us (menu changes daily). There is plenty of convienience stores (ABC Stores) around, there is a running joke in my family that says that ABC stands for 'All Blocks Covered'.
Now to the few bad points that we encountered, Tiki's Bar & Grill have different foods available, but it wasn't the best. But TIki's is a great place to sit around and chill out with a view of the ocean and a few cocktails (We also liked Lulu's Surf Club around the corner). When you walk along the street and people stop you to ask if you have any tours booked they are usually timeshare people, we found the easiest way to get rid of them is to tell them you are leaving early the next morning. There was only one other bad thing which was, Hawaii have passed a law that if you smoke you must be at least 20 feet away from any door, window or vent (which won't affect you non-smokers) but it tends to cause a bit of hassle when you are on the 17th floor and you want a cigarette. Also the bums come up and ask you for cigarettes and they also take the ones that aren't quite finished out of the ashtrays, a solution to this could be to install ashtrays with water in them or something to prevent them walking up and down at late hours of the night.

I hope this review has helped you in deciding what hotel and some activities to do on Oahu.
