We stayed at the Waikiki Sand Villa for two nights while we stopped over in Honolulu before going to Maui. The rooms were clean and quiet. Nothing extravagant but for a place to stay in the center of activity, it did the trick. The pool area was beautiful, we had our continental breakfast there. The breakfast just about held you over until you could go for a real meal. Our only complaint was that one of the two elevators was not working while we were there and the wait sometimes was incredibly long. It was nice to be only two short blocks from the beach and nightlife and the market was equally close. If we ever returned to Honolulu we might stay here again. But we honestly preffered the slower lifestyle on Maui.

I admit I was cheaping out on the first week of our trip to Waikiki but the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Sure the rooms (we stayed in a Pualeilani Studio) needed updating (carpet mostly) but overall it served it's purpose. And like many other times stated, how much time do you spend in your room anyways?
The pool (area) was very pretty and hotel staff (especially maid service) were wonderful and very helpful. My kids loved the breakfast and I found it very handy that we could go grab some toast, yogurt, pineapple, whatever. If you need bacon and eggs every morning, you won't be happy but there is a Denny's up the block. Loved the free internet access and the cheap valet parking! Don't forget to tip...they sure work hard! We didn't eat at the hotel but they made a mean Lava Flow and a very cheap happy hour.

“Great Value!”

Waikiki Sand Villa Hotel

My daughter & I just got back from 7 days at the Waikiki Sand Villa & we could not have been happier. This hotel had everything we needed. No, it is not a 5 star hotel, but if you just want a clean, safe room to sleep in, this will do the trick! It has a nice pool area with a hot tub & the bar/sports grill was great also(it does get crowded with locals for their great happy hour though). The internet room was great to keep in contact with everyone while we were there. It was definitely better than I expected for the price & if you need to book a tour, use the tour desk in their lobby, it is wonderful. My only complaints were the free breakfast(not much but hey, it is free) and the beds were not the most comfortable. We were very happy over all & all the employees were very helpful. If you book now on the hotels website they will give you free transfers to/from the airport if you stay 4 or more nights. We did take advantage of that. Great location also, only a few blocks from everything!!

I wouldn't say this hotel is above average in looks or amenities, but it is definitely above average for the price.

If you are like us and use your hotel room mostly just to sleep, then this hotel is great. It's not fancy, and although the carpeting and some elements of the room are worn, it is very clean. The beds were comfortable and the hotel had all the services we needed (free computer use, in-room fridge, laundry facilities, lovely pool). Breakfast is very basic - croissants, mini donuts, yogurt, pineapple and coffee/juice - but everything is very fresh and was a great way to start the day. The location is fantastic! There was some traffic noise (we were on the 6th floor), but nothing out of the ordinary for a city.

The staff was very nice and helpful, and the tour desk was really fantastic.

I only have two complaints. One is that I could not find a set of stairs that went to the lobby, so I had to wait for/take the elevator whether I wanted to or not. The second is that we requested three rooms and didn't get any of them in the configuration we requested.

I would stay there again, especially for the price.

“Here's the facts....”

Waikiki Sand Villa Hotel

Location- Right next to the river, away from the beach front. But only a 5-10minute walk to Waikiki Beach. Close to shops and restaurant. Quiet street.

Rooms- The Pualeilani Suites are over the pool and have a kitchenette and sofa bed. Quite roomy, but dark inside. Only problem was the constant noise during the night (possibly the spa or pool filter).
Rooms in the tower were very small. Smallest we came across on our trip. But, they did have 3 single beds which was a bonus for us.

Service- Very friendly! Porters were extremely helpful and nice.
Front desk- Adequate

Amenities- Pool and spa were lovely and always clean. Did not try the gym.

Food- The hotel has a bar that does meals and onsite cafe and an asian takeaway food shop. Did not try these.
Breakfast- Croissants, toast, mini doughnuts, yoghurt, tea, and juice. We enjoyed it. It's not 5 star, but it's breakfast and everyone around us in the mornings seemed to be taking a lot of it! So not too many complaints!

Tourist info- This hotel has a little tourism booth with a lovely local lady as the agent. She is FANTASTIC! Will book anything for you and give you advice on travel etc.

Extras- It's lovely sitting and eating breakfast at the tables next to the pool in the morning.
