To get from Hotel-to-Airport or Airport-to-Hotel you can....
- Use the Taxis. From the airport to your hotel, it is approximately $20 USD. But going from your hotel to the airport is around $40 USD. Be sure to agree on a price BEFORE you get into the cab so that you don't get surprised after the fact.
- Use the airport shuttles (called "colectivos") for about $9 per person. Just like any other shuttle, the vans will wait until there are enough people and then depart for the hotel zone. Everyone gets dropped off at their respective hotel, but if you are located on the northern end of the zone, it will take a little longer getting there.
- Book a private transfer service before you arrive in Cancun. The convenience is knowing that everything is arranged already and you are taken directly to your hotel. The cost for 2 people is okay, but it would be a more economical choice for a group. From the forum, two highly recommended companies are Entertainment-Plus and Cancun Valet.
- ** On your return flight home, arrive at the airport 3 hours BEFORE your time of departure. Unless you typically fly first or business class, the lines for coach class tickets WILL be long -- especially on a Saturday afternoon.
Buses
- You can easily explore the Hotel Zone by using the public bus system. Cost is 6.5 pesos every time you board. Drivers can usually give change, but not for dollar bills, so keep those peso coins handy.
- If you see the bus you want to take while at the bus stop, wave it down or it may not stop.
