Looking for cooler weather in Las Vegas?   Come October-February.  During the coldest months, many hotel pools will be closed -- be sure to check with the hotel that you are interested in, to ensure the pool will be open (if that is something you are needing).

September/October are busy months for conventions, but general tourism is beginning to calm down, as school is back in session for school-age children.  You can check for current and upcoming scheduled conventions on www.lvcva.com.  As the convention center is nearest to the Las Vegas Hilton, The Riviera, The Venetian, Harrah's, and the Reniassance Hotel.. these locations fill up quickly and their rates will skyrocket during major convention periods.  The period between Thanksgiving and around the 20th of December (depending on what day Christmas falls on) is considered a slow period (even though the Wrangler World Rodeo Finals are in town) and you can usually find some good rates.  Be aware that a number of shows and some of the free attractions (such as the Sirens of TI) may be shut down for a break or maintenance during this time.

Looking for hot weather in Vegas?  Come March-September.  Summers are hot and very dry, (above 100 degrees) be sure to bring a hat or cap, bottled water, some sunscreen and your sunglasses if you intend on walking the Las Vegas strip during the day.  Be wary of the pools during peak hours, they will be extremely crowded and you will definitely catch some sun!  If you want a poolside chair, be ready to make a mad dash for one as soon as the pools open.

Looking for rain? July and the beginning of August are "monsoon" season, and you might get light showers each afternoon. Be aware that since Las Vegas gets very little rainfall, a little bit tends to bring up the oil on the streets which makes driving treacherous. The drivers (even the locals) do not necessarily know how to drive when it is slick.
